Jay Z, Madonna and Timberlake Are NOT Joining Boycott Against Florida

Representatives for Madonna, Jay Z, Justin Timberlake and several other stars have strongly denied reports suggesting the musicians were joining Stevie Wonder in his boycott of the state of Florida following the George Zimmerman verdict.
According to a list that surfaced on music blog American Urban Radio Networks, the 63-year-old singer enlisted several star performers, including Kanye West and the Rolling Stones, to join him in his refusal to play in Florida until the state rectifies its Stand Your Ground Law.
The report, which was picked up by MSN, the Huffington Post and the Wrap, claimed Rod Stewart, Usher and Rihanna were also boycotting the state.
“I don’t know where this list came from,” one rep said.
Wonder made headlines last week when he announced at his concert in Quebec City, “I decided today that until the Stand Your Ground law is abolished in Florida, I will never perform there again.”
“As a matter of fact, wherever I find that law exists, I will not perform in that state or in that part of the world,” he added.
Zimmerman’s acquittal last week in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin sparked outrage across the country, and Wonder was one of the few entertainers to take a stand.
The American Urban Radio Networks site, which cited individuals close to Wonder’s camp in its story, could not be reached for comment.

Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 3/31/2013

Lil Wayne's "I Am Not A Human Being II" is baller-blocked by Justin Timberlake's "20/20 Experience." Drake's "Take Care" soars up the charts in chase of two million, and Notorious B.I.G. appears.

As projected, Justin Timberlake did not budge—not even for Lil Wayne, with his 20/20 Experience. The former N*Sync front-man maintained a #1 spot, smashing the million-sold benchmark as easily predicted. One of music's biggest stars and centered around a month-long media blitz concerning his health, Lil Wayne landed comfortably at #2 with I Am Not A Human Being II, the sequel to his late 2010 Rock/Rap experiment.

Also making the charts was Strange Music's Punk-inspired duo, Ces Cru. The Kansas City, Missouri natives' first full-length, a self-titled effort, conquered the Top 100. Sixteen years to the month from when he was tragically murdered in Los Angeles, California, one of Hip Hop's lyrical giants, The Notorious B.I.G. also popped back into the Top 200, with Bad Boy Records' Greatest Hits project.
Lil Wayne Says I Am Not A Human Being, Again

I Am Not A Human Being II, Lil Wayne's tenth solo full-length, sold over 200,000 units. That achievement was still over 100,000 units behind Justin Timberlake's 20/20 Experience, denying Weezy his first #1, since 2010's The Rebirth also came in at #2. This effort did out-sell its I Am Not A Human Being predessor by 100,000 first-week units. However, that 2010 effort was a digital exclusive upon release, with no physical CDs until later.

Wayne's latest featured YMCMB's Drake, Gudda Gudda and throwback Boo (of early '00s Cash Money duo Boo & Gotti), however Mr. Carter opened up the personnel to include former lover Trina, Juicy J, Gunplay and even Soulja Boy, among others. This album includes early glimpse "Love Me" and street effort, "Rich As fu-k." The Deluxe Version includes the Young Money & G.O.O.D Music olive-branch effort, "My Homies Still," with Big Sean.
Drake's Take Care Climbs 50 Spots, Nearly Crosses 2 Million Mark

As the rollout for third studio album, Nothing Was The Same is underway, Drake's 2011 sophomore, Take Care continues to tackle the charts. The effort shot up to #75 from #126 the previous week, more than doubling its previous week sales. The Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Motown flagship release is on the heels of 2 million certified sales. This far exceeds Drake's 2010 debut, Thank Me Later, which crossed the 1.5 million mark, just over a year ago.

Justin Timberlake Releasing ‘The 20/20 Experience 2′ In November, Questlove Reveals

> Justin Timberlake Releasing ‘The 20/20 Experience 2′ In November, Questlove Reveals - Photo posted in The Hip-Hop Spot | Sign in and leave a comment below!

While responding to criticism of Justin Timberlake‘s new album The 20/20 Experience, Questlove of The Roots spilled the beans on JT‘s follow-up project, The 20/20 Experience 2.

Questlove apparently seen Justin‘s vision and knows his release schedule. Didn’t get enough Justin on The 20/20 Experience? Then hopefully you get enough of him in November.

According to Questlove, this album hitting stores Tuesday is only half of Justin‘s vision. Questlove says we’re getting 10 songs now and 10 songs in November when The 20/20 Experience 2 is released.

Questlove broke the news on his OkayPlayer forum when responding to NY Times writer Jon Caramanica‘s criticism of the album.

See what Questlove had to say about the project after the break.

Questlove’s Response To The NY Times Review Of Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 Experience:

"its constructive criticism

i will say the album is OVERLY ambitious. like a LOT of ideas crammed into one.

spoiler alert. 20/20 Vol 2 comes out in nov. (10 songs now…..10 songs later= 20 vision)

i admire the balls it took to make this record. cause he coulda easily urshurd his work in and made diplo his teddy riley to 20/20′s dangerous instead of sticking with timb’s Quincy.

feel me?

i like throwback Timb. (he played me songs out of order and off both records so i don’t know what made the final cut) so i was shocked he wasn’t 4 on the flooring it like the timb of 2005 was doing. like these joints were straight up missy/magoo timb and justin said he wanted timb to “get back in his real zone” even if it meant alienating the tweens born after 86 who never ever heard of the sly slick and wicked

i mean suit and tie is the MOST UNLIKELY james brown production reference

Sly, Slick & Wicked Sho' Nuff - YouTube

but of course unless you got a master degree in soul-ology this won’t mean sh-t to you.

and i told him my assistant zarah (born in 88) was frowning like “i don’t like this song”

and is he cool with the fact that only 35 year old people who love their soul in 95 bpm zone will “get” this song.

and he was like “why do we put all of our power in the hands of 18 year olds….i wanted to make a joint that 40 year olds would love too”

and by the time the video came out all the 86 after sect were aboard again.

(i agree the only thing i don’t like about suit and tie is jay’s beat switch up…..its cute….but its a pander move—if you gonna go 40…..go 40/40 with it”

anywho….i love the songs, but was worried on how he will cut the prime rib to feed to toothless babies.

ballsy move however.

i applaud ballsy moves

Past couple of months have been big for artists being named creative directors at various companies. After Swizz Beatz, Alicia Keys, Joey Bada$$ and Justin Timberlake, it’s Lupe fiasco’s turn to get his entrepreneurship brand up.

The Chi Town emcee has combined forces with Wrapports founder Michael Ferro to launch a new health and wellness App called Higi. The innovative app “calculates a Klout-like score (ranging from 1 to 999) that combines body vitals like blood pressure and weight and gives extra weight to wellness metrics like social interaction and community involvement.” It has beeen launched for iOS alone for now but will be available at physical retailers like Shop Rite and Kmart later this year.

Lupe was quite excited about the launch at SXSW in Austin yesterday and told this to Billboard:
