Kanye West Launching “Got Bars” Program For Chicago’s Youth

The Yeezus rapper recently launched Donda’s House, a nonprofit in memory of his mother Dr. Donda West. The organization is joining forces with Chicago’s Ark of St. Sabina for “Got Bars” Music Writing & Fitness Program.
Fellow rapper Rhymefest is the program’s assistant director.
“I am so happy to launch “Got Bars” to honor Kanye West’s mother’s memory and to fulfill one of my Aldermanic campaign goals. “Got Bars” will change our youth musically, get them healthy and keep them busy in a creative, peaceful environment. I know it will be an even stronger program because of our partnership with the ARK of St. Sabina,” said Rhymefest in a press release.
The ARK is a community youth center located on the St. Sabina campus in Chicago. It was created to “nurture and develop the gifts, skills, and spirit of community youth” and to provide a safe environment.
“Got Bars” will service participants between the ages of 15 and 24.
“My mom spent her life as an educator and I am happy that Donda’s House can pick up her torch and honor her life’s mission,” said Kanye West.
Applications are being accepted through Friday, August 2, 2013. Apply on DondasHouse.com.

Jay Z, Madonna and Timberlake Are NOT Joining Boycott Against Florida

Representatives for Madonna, Jay Z, Justin Timberlake and several other stars have strongly denied reports suggesting the musicians were joining Stevie Wonder in his boycott of the state of Florida following the George Zimmerman verdict.
According to a list that surfaced on music blog American Urban Radio Networks, the 63-year-old singer enlisted several star performers, including Kanye West and the Rolling Stones, to join him in his refusal to play in Florida until the state rectifies its Stand Your Ground Law.
The report, which was picked up by MSN, the Huffington Post and the Wrap, claimed Rod Stewart, Usher and Rihanna were also boycotting the state.
“I don’t know where this list came from,” one rep said.
Wonder made headlines last week when he announced at his concert in Quebec City, “I decided today that until the Stand Your Ground law is abolished in Florida, I will never perform there again.”
“As a matter of fact, wherever I find that law exists, I will not perform in that state or in that part of the world,” he added.
Zimmerman’s acquittal last week in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin sparked outrage across the country, and Wonder was one of the few entertainers to take a stand.
The American Urban Radio Networks site, which cited individuals close to Wonder’s camp in its story, could not be reached for comment.
Unhappy Jay Z calls George Zimmerman a “f*cking mall cop”

Rap mogul Jay Z was among those who were shocked and saddened when a Florida jury acquitted George Zimmerman in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
Jay Z told Rap Radar’s Elliott Wilson he didn’t sleep for 2 days after hearing the not guilty verdict.
“We all knew there was still racism but for it to be so blatant… Didn’t Trayvon have a right to stand his ground?” he said, referring to the controversial self defense law.
Jay Z blasted wannabe cop Zimmerman for racially profiling the unarmed Miami teenager.
“Professionals are taught not to profile,” he said. “This guy is a novice; this guy is a f*cking mall cop. You can’t assess a situation and figure out what you’re going to do, that’s not what you do for a living.”
Jay Z and his wife, singer Beyonce joined thousands of demonstrators at a Justice for Trayvon march in New York last weekend.
The 43-year-old father-of-2 said he hoped Trayvon’s tragic death brings about a change in the law that transports America back to its lawless wild wild west past.
“Even that Stand Your Ground law; you can have a fight with someone, and if they are running away you can shoot them and kill them and you’re fine. What?!”
Jay Z added: “Hopefully this is the moment that changed that law and changed the way we interact with each other, and you hate that a child had to be sacrificed for that.”

Beyonce Reportedly Scraps 50 Songs, Starts Album Over

Diplo may have been on to something. Less than two week after the Major Lazer producer claimed Beyonce had scrapped 50 songs from her upcoming album and has started over according to a source speaking with The Hollywood Reporter.
The list of writers who’s songs have been scrapped reads like a R&B hit all start team with The Dream, Diane Warren, Ne-Yo and Sia being a few of those writers.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Beyonce’s current Mrs. Carter World Tour, which features no new music, was not initially intended by her record label Columbia.

Miley Cyrus Speaks On Jay-Z’s Shout Out On ‘SomewhereInAmerica’

“When I was talking Instagram / Last thing you wanted was your picture snapped / Feds still lurking / They see I’m still putting work in / Cause somewhere in America / Miley Cyrus is still twerkin’”
Jay-Z’s reference to Miley Cyrus twerking in the verse and hook of ‘SomewhereInAmerica’ from his new album Magna Carta Holy Grail surprised many but looks like Miley already had an idea about the shout out, before the song was released to the public. She told MTV UK:
“Pharrell had actually hit me [up], he was like ‘Jay-Z wants to call you and tell you that he’s shouting you out in the song tomorrow. I was in Miami and was doing crazy press for my record. So I came out… and we got to go out and hear it in a club. It was fun.”
Miley is currently putting finishing touches to her new album which will feature production from Mike WiLL Made It, Pharrell and others.

J. Cole Apologizes for Autism Lyric on 'Jodeci Freestyle'

Autism Speaks
Recently there’s been a trend that includes rappers saying something offensive, only to be attacked for it in the media and pressured to apologize. I have to be completely honest and say there’s a part of me that resents that. I view rap similar to how I view comedy. It’s going to ruffle feathers at times. It’s going to go “too far”. I do not believe that an apology is needed every time someone is offended, especially when that apology is really only for the sake of saving an endorsement or cleaning up bad press.
With that said, this is not the case today. This letter is sincere. This apology IS necessary.
In a recent verse on the song “Jodeci Freestyle”, I said something highly offensive to people with Autism. Last week, when I first saw a comment from someone outraged about the lyric, I realized right away that what I said was wrong. I was instantly embarrassed that I would be ignorant enough say something so hurtful. What makes the crime worse is that I should have known better.
To the entire Autism community who expressed outrage, I’m moved and inspired by your passion, and I’m amazed at how strong you are as a unit. I have now read stories online from parents about their struggles and triumphs with raising an Autistic child and I admire how incredibly strong you have to be to do so. It’s touching. It also makes what I said even more embarrassing for me. I feel real shame. You have every right to be angry.
To anyone suffering from Autism, either mildly or severely, I am sorry. I’m bound to make mistakes in my life, but in my heart I just want to spread Love.
I want to educate myself more on Autism, and I’ll gladly own my mistake and serve as an example to today’s generation that there’s nothing cool about mean-spirited comments about someone with Autism. People with this disorder and their loved ones have to go through so much already, the last thing they need is to hear something as ignorant as what I said. I understand.
To the parents who are fighting through the frustrations that must come with raising a child with severe autism, finding strength and patience that they never knew they had; to the college student with Asperger’s Syndrome; to all those overcoming Autism. You deserve medals, not disrespect. I hope you accept my sincere apology.
Much Love
-Cole

Click over to Kanye’s website to see the final, non-leaked video for Yeezus’ “Black Skinhead.” Marvel as your cursor turns to an extended middle finger and the page breaks your web browser. Reload the page in another browser and consider the intro text about how you can “share across all online and mobile social platforms” this “unique secondary experience of the traditional music video.” Yes, hit play, then slow down the video because? Wonder if Facebook authorized the incorrect use of Instagram’s logo. Reassure Kanye that this version of the video is much better.

Kanye West rants "I ain't no motherf*king celebrity"
"One thing about me. I'm the worst kinda, worst kinda, worst kinda celebrity...because all I do is make real music. All I do is sit in the studio and make real, real sh-t. and that's it. That's motherfu-king it. That's motherfu-king it. So I don't want nobody trying to run up on me with no cameras, trying to sell pictures and sh-t to magazines, asking me no dumbass questions. throwing me off of my focus and sh-t. Harassing you all motherfu-king day. I ain't no motherfu-king celebrity..."
"[I had a friend ask me, 'Are you gonna go on] SNL and you're going to do like a skit about the paparazzi and sh-t and like humanize yourself?' I ain't here to apologize to no motherfu-kers man. It ain't about me humanizing myself. At what point did I become unhuman where I had to turn myself back? Or maybe i was demonized. Or maybe I was treated inhumane and not human in that kind of situation.
"I ain't no motherfu-king celebrity. I ain't running for office. I ain't kissing nobody's motherfu-king babies. I drop your baby and you sue me and sh-t. I'm trying to make some music that inspires people to be the best they can be. I don't want nobody to ask NOTHING ELSE OF ME. Don't ask nothing else of me. Motherfu-kers chasing you down 'bout to make you crash and sh-t. And all they want is one nigga to laugh and sh-t. Hell nah I ain't doing no motherfu-king SNL skits, this my goddamn life. This ain't no motherfu-king joke. That's it. Stop that sh-t right there."
